birthday weekend.

For my birthday Derek flew me out to NY to hang out for the weekend! We ate out at The Riverview restaurant in Cold Spring...across the Hudson from West Point. Saturday there was a home football game in the afternoon and that was a great chance to see friends and meet some other cadets. That night we played cards and ate pizza with some friends at the Stoneburner's home. They are Navigators staff at WP, and Mark has been Derek's mentor the past three years. Sunday was as gorgeous day to spend in the city: church in Manhattan, walking in Central Park, pudding at Rice to Riches...just getting the chance to be with Derek.

This semester is flying by! Only a few more weeks...then heading to Philly for the Army/Navy game, my first one!

Hope you have a great day!

today was a beautiful day.

I visited a new church this morning and it was wonderful. The worship through song was genuine, the pastor was very real, and the Word was studied. Something that stuck out to me today from what the pastor taught was this: If I, as a Christian, feel anything less than awe and amazement for my salvation through Jesus Christ, then I've forgotten about the power of His blood. It was convicting to hear that this morning. We should be in continual awe of the saving blood and power of Jesus, and I know that most times that thought doesn't even cross my mind in the course of a day.

Plus, the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect. The crisp air in the mornings has gotten me excited for the fall.

And for the PUMPKIN FESTIVAL. I am really excited to be able to enjoy it this coming weekend.

I took this photo in July, I think... shooting through an old camera that belonged to my mom's mother. It's a view looking out to the yard from the back porch at my house. I just really enjoy the frame-inside-the-frame in this image. Thought I would share it.

I think I need to go eat a chocolate chip cookie with some milk. Have a great week :)

ha!

alright, so when I started this blog last year, I thought it would be easy to keep this thing updated. as you can see, that has not been the case. I figured it might be a good time to update....

yesterday marked three months of being engaged to Derek! I can't believe it's been that long already... his surprise visit home for the proposal was may 15... we are on the countdown to june 4, 2010 ...wedding day! it's hard to believe we are beginning our 4th and final year of college, starting tomorrow for both of us :)

I also moved in june, and am waiting for my roommate to arrive as I write. I've been in normal all summer working at the good old 'bucks. I am ready for a school schedule and to have my roommate, stacey, here!

well, i know this is brief. i really hope to do a better job with this... you can hold me accountable, please! have a great week!

colossians 3.12-14
"therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. forgive as the Lord forgave you. and over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

i heard birds chirping today!

highlights of semester #2 so far [in no particular order]:

1. soaking up the few warm days we've had.
2. 500th weekend at West Point with Derek.
3. making photographs with a medium format camera.
4. new friendships...a gift from God.
5. walking through the greenhouse at ISU.
6. discovering new my favorite Starbucks drink...a hazelnut mocha [one pump each, nonfat, extra hot, with whip].
7. seeing the Lord's blessings amidst my frantically busy life.

i'll be back soon. enjoy your last week of february!
